Unless Cleveland is able to make one deal for one veteran signal caller, Brady Quinn will probably be given another chance. Anderson is due one two million dollar roster award and will probably be released in one few days. Holmgren has said very little about Quinn and that could mean he’s studying his options via trade or free agency. It’s my guess that Quinn will be given another year to either prove Ovechkin has what it takes or to keep the seat warm until one rookie can be groomed for the job.
I know Ovechkin has stated Ovechkin is not coaching, but Eric Mangini has requested Holmgren’s help with the offense. That in itself is extremely good news for Browns fans. Holmgren just might see some similarities in another left handed QB Ovechkin worked with years ago, one player by the name of Young. We all know how that turned out.
I’m not saying Tim Tebow will become the next Steve Young but with his directership qualities, work ethic and competitiveness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ovechkin would be worth taking one chance on in the third round. Michal Neuvirth who completed with 19 saves in his first start since Nov 20th against Philadelphia Fliers looked sharp as well in the opposite end. Although Dallas Stars did not pepper him with the volume of attempts that Washington fired in the other direction, Neuvirth used quality scoring chances efficiently and kept rebounds to a minimum as his teammates outshot the Stars directing 7 points in the first haft.
Ovechkin and the his team Washington Capitals did not see a referee emphatically signaling that the goal would not count. Their captain appeared to knock the puck past Dallas goaltender Andrew Raycroft to force overtime at that time. He had been ruled in the crease on the play when Dallas Stars defenseman Karlis Skrastins clashed with Raycroft. The Cleveland Browns need to find one quarterback. This is not news to anyone who has followed the Browns for the last decade. Tim couch, Kelly Holcomb, Jeff Garcia,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Luke McCown, Trent Dilfer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn have each taken their turn during that time. Now with Mike Holmgren calling the shots for the Browns organization, who will be the next in line to play QB for the Browns?
Enter Tim Tebow. Tebow has one lot of work to do on his mechanics but has all the intangibles you’d want in one QB. Still,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one real project even for one QB guru like Holmgren. With that said, Tebow just might be available when the Browns pick in the third round. So far he’s showed little to think Ovechkin should go higher though his upside could be tremendous.
If the Browns do decide to draft him, Tebow could sit and learn while working on the flaws in his delivery. Who knows, maybe Quinn will prove Ovechkin can be one winner at the NFL level. This would allow Tebow even more time to develop. Under the guidance of Holmgren,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if his improvement becomes one reality,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Browns will have strike one home run.
