Ex-Boston Red Sox slugger George Scott dies at 69
GREENVILLE, Miss., July 29 () -- Former Boston Red Sox slugger and three-time baseball all-star George "Boomer" Scott has died in Mississippi at age 69, a local coroner said Monday. Washington County, Miss., Coroner Methel Johnson told the (Greenville, Miss.) Delta Democrat Times Scott -- who won eight gold gloves and bashed 271 homers over a 14-year major league career -- had died. Nicknamed "Boomer" for his prodigious home runs, the Greenville native spent nine years over two stints with the Red Sox.He broke into the big league with a bang in 1966, finishing third in AL Rookie of the Year voting after hitting .245 with 27 homers and 90 RBI.Scott played a big role in Boston's run to the 1967 World Series, hitting .303 with 19 homers and 82 RBI.He later played five seasons for the Milwaukee Brewers,[url=http://www.govtvault.com/]gucci belt men[/url], with his best year coming in 1972 when he cracked 36 homers drove in 109 runs.Scott again joined the Red Sox 1977-79 and later played for the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees.
